WARTIME WEEKEND

Bury back in the 1949's

We spent a nostalgic weekend back in the 1940's, we had a stall at the Fusilier museum show casing our vintage stock and with a few bits to sell

It is a beautiful building that was once the towns art college and formally the technical college built with all the pride and showing off of the Victorian era, I did some courses there years ago and I remember the fabulous radiators

It was all happening at the Steam Railway a few yards away

There was soldiers shopping

And glamorous ladies singing this is lovely and talented Natasta Harper

AFTERNOON TEA

MENUS
sat in office writing afternoon tea menus, needed some visual stimulusHow grand !

This room is far to cluttered and fussy for me normally but right now with the wind howling outside and creative block, sitting by that fire with a nice pot of tea and something sweet [ and I don't have a sweet tooth] seems bliss

RAINY DAYS IN LANCASHIRE

IN BETWEEN THE SHOWERS

Yesterday was spent dodging what is typical Manchester /Lancashire rain as Peter Kay put it "It's that fine rain that wets you right through " we popped up to Ramsbottom a small town just north of Bury it is on the East Lancs Railway route http://www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk/ good for vintage shopping very good charity shops that somehow don't bring the high street down maybe it's because they all make an effort with their windows etc. we had lunch at

http://www.theloungeramsbottom.co.uk/
I had spicy vegetable wrap, it was nice well seasoned with chips I am quite particular about my chips I like them very crispy and dry on the outside and fluffy on the inside I was not born with British gene of a liking for soggy not properly cooked chips these were perfect. Husband had garlic mushrooms which was a starter but he had a very hearty portion so if you like big portions this is the place for you

VINTAGE BITS

Picked up some good vintage bits

Some nice teapots and our new tea trolley we have named her Betty !

Some polishing to do sadly we don't have a Butler
And a cool retro flask

And as we we were about to drive away from the car park we were lucky to catch a train arriving
